I had the most fun on this project that I have ever had working on any CD. You should have seen me recording some of these vocal tracks ... it was a blast! I should have videoed but alas. I can't record a record an album and video at the same time all by myself. Or can I? This projects is the result of living a magickal life on the road connecting with so many amazing spiritual and diverse communities that have all become a part of a cherished tribe.

I celebrated the 5 year anniversary of this amazing album project by making some improvements. The 5th anniversary edition of this release has brand new vocal performances, enhanced mixes and new masters of Thankful, Urban Elements, From Love to Love and My Own. These are changes I have wanted to makr for a while because after years of performing these songs they have taken on new energy and I wanted to capture that energy on the recording! And now I have! They sound even better than before. It even got a shiny new cover featuring art by Andrea Sumers.

I really consider this to be my first solo record because it defined a sound that was coming out of me at the beginning of my solo career. Never before had I been just Ginger Doss solo performer. It was scary and empowering. I was also hearing the voice of spirit telling me more strongly than ever that my purpose was to sing songs for the soul ~ to lift, heal and open.

I had been touring in my duo with Bekah Kelso for a couple of years prior to this release and playing many of the songs I wrote while in Velvet Hammer and Dreamtrybe. As a result these songs were taking on a new feel and needed new recordings to go with it. These are some of my favorite songs - Four Directions, Wave and Come Down and here they are revisited to capture the intimate tribal feel as they are performed with piano and percussion. Add to that some new and never before released songs and you have a collection very dear to my heart . These recordings feature my duo partner at the time Bekah Kelso on background vocals and percussion, and long time musical cohort Lynda Millard from Dreamtrybe and Velvet Hammer on additional background vocals. This album project journeys deep into my heart at a very turbulent time in my life. I was moving out of one relationship and into another and reeling from all the change resulting from it. These songs are very personal and were written from the intense need to express my heart since I was not performing at the time and still such an introvert This is the only CD that has some of my guitar songs that I (almost) never perform. During much of this writing process I was not doing the full time touring thing yet. I was working hard in my business and struggling to feel in line with my purpose. I would just record these songs and let them sit work on them from time to time ... yet it was the main thing that helped me get through. Then when I gave it all up to hit the road I realized I had an album worth songs and dove in to put it all together for my first release. This project is a testament to a dark yet tender time in my life that preceded the sun.
